The Bucas Sun Shower is a lightweight, waterproof and breathable turnout sheet with no fill, with a heat-reflective silver 840 denier outer fabric. Bucas developed it for days when every other turnout rug is too heavy and too warm: in rain and in sun. It is intended for horses that live out in spring, summer and on mild autumn days.
About this turnout sheet
On a mild, wet day even a thin turnout rug can be too warm, yet you still want to keep your horse dry. That is what the Sun Shower was made for. It has no fill and Bucas gives a recommended temperature range of roughly 10 to 20 °C. At 5 to 10 °C and at 20 to 25 °C you are, according to Bucas, at the edges of that range.
The outer fabric is 840 denier, waterproof and breathable. Bucas uses a hydrostatic head of more than 10,000 mm for its waterproof rugs and more than 3000 g/24h/m² for its breathable rugs. Rain stays out, while moisture from your horse can escape. The silver colour is heat-reflective: it reflects sunlight, which helps stop it getting too warm under the rug when the sun comes out.
Inside is a mesh lining, with a silk-feel lining at the shoulders. The fit is the Bucas Classic Cut with shoulder gussets, which give more room around the chest and shoulder. At the front you close it with a T-bar and the Bucas magnetic Snap-lock, and under the belly with cross surcingles. There are also double D-rings, a tail flap with tail loop, a tail cord and attachment points for leg straps.
The Sun Shower has attachment points for a neck cover, such as the matching Bucas Sun Shower Neck, and connection points for Bucas Liners, Quilts & Coolers. Among the Bucas rugs at Maddelin, it is the lightest choice for warm, wet weather.
