The Effol Mähnen-Schweif-Liquid is a 500 ml lotion for mane and tail. Effol puts fullness first: more volume in the long hair, and easier combing after that. You spray the lotion on, leave it briefly and comb through carefully. At Maddelin this article sits in the range as a mane and tail detangler.
About this mane and tail lotion
Effol literally presents this product as more fullness for mane and tail and states that it allows easier combing of the long hair. In that order: volume first, combing second. So anyone looking mainly for a detangler should know that the brand places the emphasis elsewhere.
The composition is a combination of silicone oils and conditioning oils; the label states contains silicone oils. In the ingredient list water is followed by isopropyl alcohol, a silicone emulsion, two emulsifiers and lemongrass oil, which provides the scent.
Because of that isopropyl alcohol, 15 to less than 20 per cent according to the safety data sheet, the lotion carries two warnings a coat shine spray does not: H226, flammable liquid and vapour, and H319, causes serious eye irritation. The label shows the flame and the exclamation mark with the signal word Achtung. So work away from fire and heat, in a well-ventilated space, and never spray towards eyes.
Effol gives one clear instruction: simply apply to mane and tail, leave briefly and then comb through carefully. Effol mentions no rinsing, so the lotion stays in the hair. Alongside the 500 ml bottle, Effol lists a 3 l container for anyone caring for many horses.
